The Glove Hooter Band

Our latest technology challenge is Glove Hooters. The students measured out the lengths of their tubes with some guidance from Mrs Turner and they were given a quick spray as an undercoat. Each student has a copy of the instructional text. They looked at the features of an instructional text and are currently decorating their tubes. We made up a few today. Next Wednesday and I will be going to the music class they have weekly with Mrs Wolfe and we will be devising a presentation for the last assembly of this term. Here are a few to give you the general idea.

Symmetry and Origami Unit

The children are currently working on a symmetry unit which I have couple with origami lessons. Each student has a booklet which caters for abilities from about age 8 though to age 13 where compasses and protractors are required to construct the images. There is an assessment sheet attached to the front of the booklet. Our first  focus this week  was on bilateral symmetry, and the origami models chosen for exploration are based on this concept. On Monday the class will be sharing their newfound origami skills with their book buddies in Prep/1 Saunders. Feel free to come along and watch them in action. The session will run from 12:10 until 12:40.
